Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God

A blessed Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God! Today we honor Mary’s irreplaceable role as the mother of Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God made man. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that Mary is Mother of God (the Theotokos or God-bearer) because she gave birth to Him who is God Himself. Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
